Substation Engineer - Lead, Remote

About the Opportunity

ControlPoint Technologies is seeking a Lead Substation Engineer to provide project leadership within our Substation Engineering team.

Candidates must have direct experience with substation projects for electric utilities. The projects will range from 4kV to 345kV and the candidate will be client-facing and interface with other disciplines. Project management skills and the ability to meet critical deadlines are required. The ideal candidate is an outgoing team player with the ability to provide client confidence.

Technical Responsibilities

• Substation General Arrangement
• Control House Layout
• Plans and Sections
• Grounding
• Lightning Protection
• Conduit/Trench Layout
• Material List
• Construction Specifications
• Prepare calculations for studies and reports (grounding, lightning protection, voltage drop, AC/DC load studies, etc.)
• Support/coordinate engineering and design related to Civil/Structural aspects of the designs
• Coordination with Protection Control

Engineering Responsibilities

• Project Engineering Lead
• Provide guidance and mentorship within engineering and design team
• Perform quality control/assurance reviews
• Project support from scoping to final design and project closeout
• Construction Support
• Strong client focus and customer service
• Excellent communication skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Professional Engineering Licensure (PE) is required; candidates with Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) on path to licensure will be considered
• Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in the electric utility industry
• Experience in utility substation engineering with focus on electrical or physical design aspects
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is a plus
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Salary

The base compensation range for this position is based on education, work experience, licensure, and qualifications.

Base Compensation Annual Range: $118,000 - $175,000
