Job Description

The Nokia Nuremberg R&D team is developing next generation optical transport systems for metro as well as core networks. You will be part of the System Test organization responsible for quality assurance of transport products developed by the Optical Networks R&D teams, working closely with Product Management, System Engineering, hardware and software development, and customer support worldwide.

We provide a supportive and agile work environment that encourages individual thinking and creativity. To deliver optical products that meet customer expectations with the highest quality, a full‑scale verification of the system comprising hardware and software is conducted. A continuously increasing product functionality is achieved through a continuous flow of releases, requiring a highly automated test approach. An important part of the System Test work is AI‑supported development of test automation for target and simulation covering the complete functionality. Alternatively, you will work in a scrum team to focus on bringing up specific features for a release and cover test and automation tasks for these cycles.

How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn

  • Review system requirements and architecture
  • Define test strategies and test plans and specify the required setups
  • Develop software using an object‑oriented AI‑assisted automation environment for efficient testing in simulation and on target
  • Bring setups into operation and execute the defined tests
  • Document product issues and support actively their resolution until final verification
  • Manage the test execution status and product quality within the assigned scope
  • Review customer documentation
  • Support resolution of customer trouble tickets by diagnosing complex hardware and/or software issues and contributing to recommended corrective actions

Key Skills And Experience

For this position you should bring knowledge from your university education with 2 – 3 years of work experience.

  • Good object‑oriented software development skills, preferably in Python, in a Linux environment
  • Background in applying AI methodologies in an R&D environment
  • Very good communication skills in English
  • A structured, highly motivated and self‑organized way of working with the desire to deliver high‑quality artefacts
  • A cooperative and team‑oriented working style with an attitude to take responsibility

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of Ethernet and Optical Transport Network (OTN) functionality and related standards and products
  • German language skills or willingness to learn
