Systems Architect – Coherent optical pluggable

As part of Nokia’s Optical Architecture group, you will lead the design and architecture of novel optical DWDM systems and software platforms. You’ll translate business needs into robust, scalable specifications and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions. You drive architectural clarity, assess trade-offs, and shape future transport networking products. This role offers impact at scale in a world-class AI-era data center context.

• Define and specify system and product architectures for packet-optical networking solutions
• Lead cross-functional feature teams to build consensus on architecture and implementation
• Translate customer use cases into architectural requirements and documentation
• Collaborate with Systems Architecture, Systems Engineering and Software Development to implement platforms
• Define and validate control plane, fault, performance, and configuration management features for multi-layer networks
• Document architecture and requirements clearly for product teams and customer documentation
• Investigate feature requests and assess feasibility

• Broad systems knowledge across multi-discipline architectures
• Experience defining requirements for Fault Management, Performance Management, Configuration Management, Service Provisioning and Control Plane in L0/L1 layers
• Experience with Optical Networking Technologies and Standards (ROADM/WSS, OTN, Ethernet, GMPLS Control Plane)
• Familiarity with data models and tooling (YANG, ONF TAPI, OpenROADM, OpenConfig)
• Experience designing and validating link-level control algorithms and optical performance monitoring
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
