UX Researcher / Usability Engineer Software & Hardware (m/f/d)

In this role you drive usability engineering across Agilent’s Usability and Design Center to ensure products meet real user needs. You independently plan and conduct formative and summative usability evaluations for software and hardware, aligning with ISO . You educate stakeholders on methods, translate user behavior into actionable product insights, and collaborate with UX, PMs, and R&D to shape concepts and releases. • Proactively drive usability engineering across UDC and Agilent, applying usability evaluation systematically
• Plan and conduct formative and summative usability evaluations for software and hardware
• Advocate for usability evaluation, educating stakeholders on methods and best practices
• Translate user behavior into evidence-based findings to inform product definition
• Collaborate with UX designers, Product Managers, and R&D to validate concepts and solutions
• Develop and lead usability testing activities and evaluate results to guide development
• Own usability metrics, standards, and frameworks to ensure consistency
• Act as the usability quality gate before release to reduce UX defects and rework
• Identify usability risks early and provide actionable improvement recommendations
• Document findings in structured, decision-ready formats
• Contribute to developing usability evaluation processes and standards
• Explore emerging topics such as AI-supported usability testing and AI-driven experiences

• Degree in Usability Engineering, Human Factors, Psychology, UX Research, or similar
• Experience in usability testing, evaluation methods and user research
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to derive insights
• Experience translating findings into actionable recommendations
• AI literacy and interest in AI-assisted Usability Engineering
• Excellent communication and ability to present to diverse stakeholders
• Strong team player with cross-disciplinary collaboration
• Ability to work independently in complex product environments
• Fluent English, some international travel
• Some experience in life science, medical, or B2B environments is preferred (additional)
