We’re partnering with a high-growth technology startup in Berlin who are looking for an Application Support Engineer to join their team. This is a hands-on role focused on application monitoring, triaging issues, and collaborating closely with software engineers to ensure smooth system performance and reliability.

The Role

You’ll take ownership of monitoring live applications, proactively identifying issues before they impact operations. Using tools like New Relic and Kibana, you’ll analyse system health, troubleshoot performance problems, and work closely with the engineering team to deliver sustainable fixes. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being close to production systems, understanding how things work under the hood, and making a direct impact on performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor live applications and system performance using tools such as New Relic, Kibana, or similar
• Triage and investigate production issues, escalating when necessary
• Work closely with developers to identify root causes and prevent recurrences
• Write and optimise SQL queries to troubleshoot data-related issues
• Analyse and improve system performance metrics
• Support continuous improvement of monitoring, alerting, and reliability practices

You’ll Bring

• Experience in application support or monitoring within a production environment
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as New Relic or Kibana
• Strong understanding of relational databases (MSSQL preferred)
• Ability to write SQL queries and diagnose performance issues
• Experience with Azure (or another major cloud platform)
• A proactive mindset with strong communication and problem-solving skills
