Health and Safety Manager

A leading international engineering firm is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented EHS Technician to join its team. Based at a key operational facility, this role is critical to upholding an exceptional safety record and fostering a world-class EHS culture. You will be responsible for supporting workplace safety and environmental compliance through hands-on assessments, safety protocol implementation, and direct engagement with project teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular onsite assessments to ensure all activities and contractor work comply with company EHS policies and UK regulations.
- Provide practical, technical guidance to project teams to eliminate hazards, particularly in relation to electrical and high-voltage safety.
- Assist in developing comprehensive incident reports, EHS communications, and safety progress reports for stakeholders.
- Coordinate, review, and help deliver critical safety communications, including Toolbox Talks and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) assessments.
- Support the EHS Engineer in developing and delivering engaging safety training initiatives for employees and contractors.
- Act as a professional representative of the company when interacting with vendors, project teams, contractors, and local officials.
What You Will Bring (Key Requirements):
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years in an EHS role, preferably related to construction, ideally BESS commissioning/decommissioning.
- Education: A technical diploma or higher in a relevant field is highly preferred.
- Certifications: Essential EHS certification, such as IOSH Managing Safely or the NEBOSH General Certificate, is required. Note: Candidates with equivalent international certifications such as OSHA 30 and/or HAZWOPER 24 are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge: A strong, practical knowledge of UK health and safety regulations (HASAWA, PUWER, EAWR). Experience with international standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA, NFPA, NEC) is a significant advantage.
- Technical Skills: Demonstrable expertise or strong awareness of electrical and high-voltage safety practices is highly desirable. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
- Personal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to provide guidance and support training for groups. You must be a strong multitasker with excellent time management abilities.
