Role Overview
Senior Field Engineer – Battery Storage System (German speaker, m/w/d) at Second Foundation.
Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for leading and coordinating the commissioning of all battery storage systems.
- Plan and oversee commissioning processes, including schedules and resource planning.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards during on-site commissioning phases.
- Conduct functional tests and system acceptances for large‑scale EPC projects.
- Train and supervise commissioning teams as well as on‑site operators.
- Manage all commissioning documentation, including as‑built documentation and detailed site reports.
- Collaborate with departments such as Engineering, Production, and Service to continuously improve system performance.
- Act as the main communication interface for all contractors and companies on‑site.
- Oversee all certifications and final tests (e.g., SAT) and ensure proper documentation throughout the commissioning phase.
- Coordinate the completion of all remaining punch items across project sites.
- Escalate any critical or unresolved issues to the department head or executive management without delay.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, legal regulations, and health & safety standards on all sites.
- Develop and manage the project commissioning schedules in alignment with the overall project timeline.
Qualifications
- Completed degree with a focus on electrical engineering (experience in service, customer support, or maintenance is a plus), or a comparable qualification with many years of experience in the energy supply or renewable energy sector.
- Strong technical affinity and the ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new topics and products.
- Confident, solution‑oriented and customer‑focused mindset.
- Strong analytical thinking, team spirit, and a proactive working style.
- Willingness to travel within Germany and occasionally within the EMEA region.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office 365 and MS Project.
- Fluent German and English skills, both written and spoken, suitable for professional use and negotiations.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, flexibility, resilience, and a willingness to learn.
- Valid Class B driving license.
- Enjoy working with people and able to stay calm under pressure.
