Lead Researcher – Virtualization / Disaggregated Network / SDN

You will be joining a cutting‑edge research team within a world‑leading technology company at their lab Munich. You will take charge of pioneering research & development in network virtualization for next‑gen disaggregated datacenter systems. Design & prototype scalable, high‑performance IO virtualization solutions optimized for cloud‑native & serverless platforms. Contribute to academic & industry impact through publications, patents, & open‑source initiatives. Foster strategic partnerships with top‑tier universities & research bodies.

As a Lead Researcher your responsibilities will include:

• Spearhead innovation in network virtualization for modular datacentre environments
• Develop & test robust IO virtualization architectures for modern cloud ecosystems
• Share findings via patents, papers, & contributions to open‑source & industry forums
• Build & maintain collaborative relationships with academic & research institutions

As a Lead Researcher your skills will include:

• PhD in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven R&D background in datacenter infrastructure technologies
• Expertise in areas such as:
  • Software‑defined networking & datacenter network design
  • DPDK, Open vSwitch (OVS), VirtIO, KVM/Qemu
  • SmartNICs, SR‑IOV, PCIe passthrough, hardware offload techniques
  • Demonstrated impact through technical publications, patents, or open‑source work
  • Strong leadership & communication skills with cross‑functional collaboration experience
  • Knowledge of CXL or UEC architectures & their role in memory & device disaggregation is advantageous
