Mechatronics/Mechanical Engineer (Sensor Technology, Automation, Precision Engineering)

Stellenbeschreibung:

Description

We are seeking a skilled mechatronics or mechanical engineer to support the development and automation of our quantum sensing measurement systems. In this role, you will design and optimize high-stability mechanical components and motion assemblies that enable sub-micron positioning and reproducible measurements. You will collaborate with engineering partners and vendors to bring the first commercial generation of our precision instruments to market, with a strong focus on system reliability, alignment repeatability, and integration into automated workflows.

What is expected of you

  • MSc and 4+ years in the industry or 2+ years in the industry and a PhD
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in designing and developing mechanical systems for scientific or industrial applications
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong foundation in precision mechanical design, including GD&T, metrology, and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiar with FEA and simulation tools.
  • Skilled in system error budgeting and problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with peers, present findings, and contribute to technical reports.
  • Experience in electrical engineering or microscopy is a strong plus.

Our benefits

  • Competitive salary with equity participation.
  • 30 days of paid vacation plus public holidays.
  • Annual learning and development budget.
  • Regular off-sites and team events.

Who we are

Founded in 2022 as a spin-off of TU Munich, QD leverages quantum sensors to rapidly capture three-dimensional current maps within multi-layer chips. Our 30-strong team of physicists, engineers, and data scientists works side by side with major semiconductor manufacturers, helping them in chip debugging and accelerating their yield analysis. Backed by top-tier deep tech investors, semiconductor experts, and strategic public programs, we have ensured long-term stability, shifting from breakthrough to scale - and shaping the next chapter in chip testing.

Why join us?

Picture this:

  • A machine that catches what others miss – in milliseconds.
  • Physics, data, and engineering are working hand in hand to build tools that matter.
  • An international team, who loves solving hard problems and where knowledge flows fast.

Still unsure about why joining us?

  • You\'ll get to build a company together with a brilliant and welcoming team on a product that has never been done before.
  • Our technology is the cutting edge of tomorrow, starting today and not in 10 years.
  • You will work directly with major semiconductor companies from Day 1.
  • You\'ll get virtual shares and act on behalf of the entire company, beyond just your own team.
  • You\'ll be part of a high-growth company backed by top-tier investors.

Let\’s make the invisible visible!

What will you do

  • Design and develop high-precision mechanical assemblies and positioning systems to enable stable and automated quantum sensing measurements.

  • Identify and evaluate suitable components (e.g., motion stages, mounts, materials) for integration into our metrology setup.

  • Conduct simulations, tolerance analysis, and mechanical testing to validate designs and ensure long-term stability and reproducibility.

  • Collaborate closely with optical engineers, electronics engineers, and software developers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems into the full measurement workflow.

  • Communicate directly with manufacturing partners and suppliers to ensure that all components meet our performance and quality requirements.

  • Document mechanical designs, test results, and integration guidelines in a clear and structured manner.
