This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of MKS2 Technologies. We are currently looking for a Network Security Technician (Active Secret) in Colorado (USA).

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical cybersecurity operations in a high-stakes, mission-focused environment. The Network Security Technician will support the assessment and compliance of information systems with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) standards while implementing secure network device configurations. You will work closely with system and network engineers to deploy, integrate, and test network upgrades across operational sites. This position provides the chance to research emerging cybersecurity and networking technologies, ensure system hardening and STIG compliance, and collaborate with multiple teams to maintain the highest security standards. The ideal candidate thrives in a structured yet dynamic environment, leveraging both technical expertise and communication skills to ensure mission success.

Accountabilities:

• Serve as a primary Network Security Technician supporting mission-critical programs.
• Plan, deploy, integrate, and test network upgrades and security solutions at operational sites.
• Develop and implement secure network device configurations for firewalls, switches, and routers.
• Conduct independent research on networking and cybersecurity topics, producing technical reports and recommendations.
• Ensure systems and devices comply with STIG and security hardening requirements.
• Execute cybersecurity protocols, document procedures, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Communicate security issues and recommendations clearly to leadership and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Active DoD Secret Clearance required prior to start (Top Secret desired).
• Bachelor of Science degree with 5+ years of experience, or Master of Science degree with 3+ years of experience in a relevant field.
• IAT Level II (8570) compliant certification such as Security+ CE, CASP+ CE, GSEC, SSCP, CND, or GICSP.
• Hands-on experience with firewalls (Juniper, Cisco, Palo Alto), multi-vendor routing/switching, VLANs, TCP/IP, OSI Model, UDP Multicast, and ACL design.
• Familiarity with virtualization (VMware, ESXi), NIST CVE framework, and cybersecurity compliance methodologies.
• Scripting knowledge in Python, Ansible, or PowerShell (desired).
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio.
• Ability to collaborate in team environments and travel to alternate work locations such as Schriever Space Force Base.
