Postdoc - Molecular Markers and Epidemiology in the NAKO German National Cohort (f/m/x)

Full time, 39 hrs./week, Neuherberg near Munich. Partial Home Office possible. The position is within Helmholtz Munich and offers a fixed term until 04/2028 with possible extension under certain circumstances.

Our mission in the Institute of Epidemiology (EPI) is to understand how environment, genes, and lifestyle affect health and disease using population-based epidemiology. A cornerstone is the German National Cohort (NAKO Gesundheitsstudie), Germany’s largest long-term population study, investigating more than 205,000 adults across 18 study centers since 2014.

Responsibilities

  • Scientific advancement of the NAKO German National Cohort in the field of molecular markers for lifestyle factors and environmental exposures
  • Development of data management and analysis concepts within the framework of the NAKO German National Cohort
  • Data analysis in the NAKO German National Cohort on molecular markers and multimorbidity, taking into account the role of lifestyle and environmental factors

Qualifications

  • Degree in the life sciences & completed doctoral degree in epidemiology
  • Experience in analyzing data from large cohorts, ideally within the NAKO German National Cohort
  • Experience in teaching epidemiology to students

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in the field of metabolic diseases desirable
  • International experience desirable

Salary and term

Salary grade up to E 13. Social benefits based on the Collective Wage Agreement for Public-Sector Employees (TVöD). The position has an initial fixed term until 04/2028 but may be extended under certain circumstances.
