The role

As a Rapid Capabilities Engineer you will be at the heart of deploying and integrating state‑of‑the‑art software into complex systems in non‑traditional environments. You’ll build critical last‑mile functionality, engage directly with users, and ensure our software delivers real value to both customers and Helsing.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with product and commercial teams to discover and formalise customer requirements.
• Build and design critical functionality on top of foundational building blocks to enable deliveries.
• Plan and lead development and releases of new software deployments for customers.
• Monitor and deploy software directly to customer‑managed environments, ranging from classified on‑prem bare‑metal clusters to various cloud providers.
• Advocate for and work on the features your users want to see within a software engineering team.
• Identify bugs in core services, fix them, and ship the latest features and updates to every deployment.
• Travel to customer sites for user‑interviews, co‑building sessions, and deep‑use of the software to understand their needs and build empathy.

Qualifications

• Degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to understand, break down, and explain technical concepts.
• Proficiency with back‑end programming languages such as Python, Rust, C++, Java or similar.
• Experience with container‑based, cloud‑native and edge application architectures.
• Motivation to go where you’re needed to get things done.

Nice to Have

• Experience or interest in a technical customer‑facing role.
• Interest in system architecture and infrastructure.
• Experience with production ML systems.
