R&D Engineer, Printing Technology at Esko (a Veralto company)

About the Role

Reporting to the R&D Team Lead, this hybrid role focuses on developing and implementing new tools and algorithms to improve print quality and color accuracy, with a strong emphasis on the latest AI capabilities to advance Esko technology. Offices are available in Ghent, Belgium or Itzehoe, Germany .

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize Esko’s current and future halftoning, curve, and color calibration technologies, combining software development with hands‑on analysis of physical print samples to drive innovation.
• Stay up to date on software technology, AI, related Esko products and patents, as well as competitors’ products and patents.
• Listen to customers to understand their daily challenges and convert those insights into valuable solutions.
• Assist quality engineers and application specialists in analyzing complex printing problems reported by customers.
• Interact intensively with quality engineers testing new functionality and setting up regression tests for sustainability.
• Provide necessary input to technical writers for user documentation of new features and modules.

Qualifications

• A master’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science.
• Profound interest in the physics and mathematics behind the printing process and the production of printing plates.
• Basic knowledge of AI, machine learning, and pattern recognition.
• Knowledge of Java and C++; experience with Qt is considered a plus.
• Fluent in English.
• Openness to traveling a couple of times a year.
• Able to operate in a global context.
