As an R&D Optical Engineer (m/f/d) at Sentronics Metrology (a Nova Company) in Mannheim, you will play a key role in the development of cutting-edge, non-destructive optical metrology systems for the semiconductor industry. You will work on innovative concepts, conduct laboratory experiments, and develop algorithms to analyze optical data. In close collaboration with electronics, software, and mechanical teams, you will apply your expertise in optical engineering – from concept to series production.

Role Responsibilities:

• Developing optical components and systems for non-destructive optical metrology – from initial concept through design to series production
• Conducting and analyzing experiments independently in the optical laboratory
• Creating algorithms for the processing and evaluation of optical data
• Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams in electronics development, mechanical design, and production to drive innovative solutions

Requirements:

• Degree in physics, electrical engineering with a focus on optics, or a related technical field with specialization in optical technologies.
• Good initial experience in the development of optical components and systems.
• Profound theoretical and practical knowledge in technical optics; confident in using standard development tools, ideally including Zemax.
• Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes and technologies for optical components and systems is a strong plus.
• Proven MATLAB skills, applied actively in past projects.
