The Cluster of Excellence 3099 'GreenRobust' investigates the robustness mechanisms of various plant species at all levels of biological organisation in response to biotic and climatic disturbances. Within the cluster, various research teams from the Universities of Tübingen, Hohenheim and Heidelberg will collaborate. A central component of the Excellence Cluster is a joint experiment to be conducted in the Phytotechnikum at the University of Hohenheim, the "Plant Perturbation Atlas". In this experiment, nine different plant species will be exposed to various temperature regimes, drought stress, heat, and combinations of these stress factors. The plants will be sampled at different time points for cellular, molecular, physiological, and ecological analyses and will also undergo non-invasive phenotyping.

Scientific Coordinator (up to TV‑L E13) (f/m/d)

YOUR TASKS

  • Set-up and scientific supervision of the "Plant Perturbation Atlas" greenhouse experiment within the GreenRobust Excellence Cluster
  • Planning and coordination of the experiments in the Phytotechnikum in collaboration with project leaders from GreenRobust
  • Collaboration with the Hohenheim Greenhouse Service Unit for the technical implementation of experiments
  • Planning and supervision of data collection for the Plant Perturbation Atlas
  • Close collaboration with Data Stewards regarding the technical aspects of central data collection
  • Supervision and guidance of technical assistants supporting practical work in the Plant Perturbation Atlas

YOUR PROFILE

  • Completed scientific university degree (Master's or university diploma) and doctorate (PhD) in biology, agricultural sciences, or a related natural science discipline
  • Demonstrated experience with experimental plant research and experimental planning
  • In-depth knowledge of experimental planning (data collection, statistics, experimental design)
  • Sound understanding of (crop) plant biology, plant physiology, and plant anatomy
  • Proven experience with conducting experiments in greenhouses
  • Excellent communication skills, reliability, ability to work in a team and independently, and strong decision‑making skills
  • Leadership experience in interacting with technical staff (supervision of technical assistants)
  • Excellent command of both written and spoken German and English
