Overview
This position is responsible for supporting the daily operations and maintenance of the general ledger system, banking, cash applications, inter-company client invoicing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
- Provide support to ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
- Support the day-to-day operations of the General Ledger, including entering journal entries, posting cash, and account reconciliations
- Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information and inter-company reporting/tracking
- Assist the Controller with daily banking requirements
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payables and collection of receivables
- Collaborate with others in Finance to support overall department goals and objectives
- Respond to inquiries from the VP Finance and Controller regarding financial results, special reporting requests and ad hoc analyses
- Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance workflow and internal controls
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related business field
Other Required
- A minimum of 5 years prior experience in the general ledger, financial reporting, payroll and benefits, taxes, statutory filing requirements, and all areas of the accounting cycle
- Experience with any Eastern European financial & tax requirements
Preferred
- Experience in the CRO industry
- US GAAP knowledge
Skills
- Solid IT skills (especially MS Excel)
- Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, bank reconciliations, strong PC skills and ability to multi-task
- High energy and enthusiasm with a strong commitment to exceeding expectations
- Flexibility and willingness to work on multiple assignments with personnel throughout the organization
- Ability to learn quickly; good oral and written communication & interpersonal skills with the ability to connect and build relationships with management and others
- Self-motivation and ability to work independently as well as in a team
- Team player with a desire to be an active, long-term participant in the growth of the company
