Senior Patent Specialist/Counsel

As a Senior Patent Specialist/Counsel, you will be part of a large global team of world‑class professionals creating and managing Nokia’s leading patent portfolio. You will closely work with Nokia researchers, subject experts, and standard delegates to identify and protect high‑value device‑related inventions and will play a key role from the idealization to claim charting of inventions. The role will also involve close collaboration with in‑house members and external counsels to create and prosecute high‑quality applications towards patent grant.

How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn

  • Identifying, capturing, and managing IPR, with particular emphasis on invention evaluation.
  • Work with in‑house patent professionals and external associates for creating high‑quality patent applications in wireless technology.
  • Manage the prosecution of patent applications in multiple jurisdictions across the globe.
  • Prepare and manage device‑related standard implementation claim charts to support licensing and litigation projects.
  • Promote a culture of innovation within the company where the Patent Specialist/Counsel plays a vital role working closely with the R&D community and other in‑house patent professionals.

Key Skills And Experience

  • Master’s degree in electrical or electronics engineering, telecommunication, or any other closely related technology area relevant to Nokia’s business.
  • Strong knowledge in telecommunications/mobile industry.
  • Deep technical knowledge on 3GPP related cellular technologies or various Wi‑Fi and/or IEEE standards, and its implementation in Nokia’s and/or third‑party products.
  • Good understanding on the patenting process or part qualified European or National Patent Attorney.
  • An ability to work proactively and collaboratively with other members within the team and across different business units.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively, work efficiently and multi‑task in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment to meet critical deadlines.
  • Good communication skills.

It would be nice if you also had

  • A qualification as European or National Patent Attorney or Patent Agent.
  • Strong R&D background with track record of inventions/patents in mobile technology.
  • At least 3 years of work experience in IPR or patenting.
