About MOD
MOD is an AI-native software platform to make industrialized construction 100x more intelligent, scalable, and efficient. For 95% of all construction projects globally the supply chain for prefabrication is not working. Property developers and designers struggle to check, validate, and integrate prefab elements early in their otherwise traditional construction projects.
MOD’s award-winning platform checks the prefab potential of any architectural design and orchestrates the supply chain to significantly increase the prefab share. It is 100% model-based and deeply integrated into the current design and procurement processes.
MOD is a category-defining AI company founded by serial entrepreneurs. MOD is closely linked to the world’s leading R&D centers for AI, digital fabrication, and architecture at ETH Zurich, TU Munich and Stanford.
A large part of MOD’s technology is developed as open source, including our domain language (mod-dlm) and validation engines. This is a core principle for us: by making our tools open and extensible, we accelerate adoption and attract a global community of contributors. For AI engineers, this means your work will shape both a high-impact product and the broader ecosystem: a unique opportunity to build systems that last.
WHAT IS YOUR ROLE
We are hiring a BIM & Digital Construction Developer with deep knowledge of prefabrication (DfMA) and experience in BIM interoperability and toolchain development. Unlike traditional BIM roles that focus on scripting or project support, this role is about engineering the intelligence layer for prefab construction. You will design open, cross-platform systems that turn BIM data into actionable insights—linking design, manufacturing, and sustainability. This is not maintenance work: it’s a founding engineering position where your code will help set new standards for digital construction globally.
WHAT YOU DO
- Develop BIM integrations and toolchains with IFC.js, Speckle, Revit/Dynamo, Rhino/Grasshopper, and related SDKs.
- Implement workflows for interoperability standards (IFC4, BCF, gbXML) to ensure accurate data exchange.
- Build systems for geometry and topology reasoning, enabling automated prefab checks and compatibility analysis.
- Collaborate with AI engineers on BIM parsing, prefab validation, and supplier-product integration.
- Develop plug-ins and adaptors for real-time BIM syncing with MOD’s platform.
- Contribute to MOD’s open-source projects (mod-dlm, mod-val, mod-rec) and help set standards in digital construction.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Required: Strong development experience with BIM platforms and SDKs (Revit API/Dynamo, Rhino/Grasshopper, IFC.js, Speckle).
- Must-have: IFCOpenShell for BIM parsing and manipulation.
- Knowledge of DfMA principles and prefabrication workflows.
- Hands-on with IFC standards, model interoperability, and geometry/topology reasoning.
- Experience developing plug-ins, APIs, or adaptors for BIM tools.
- Ability to translate messy BIM data into structured workflows that connect to manufacturing.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with TopologicPy for topological reasoning.
- Familiarity with COMPAS for computational geometry.
- Knowledge of construction compliance standards and model validation workflows.
- Contributions to open-source projects in BIM or AEC tech.
- Industry exposure to prefab manufacturing systems.
WHY JOIN
- Build technology that reduces CO₂ emissions and modernizes construction.
- Be a founding developer shaping MOD’s digital construction pipeline.
- Opportunity to grow into Tech Lead of Digital Construction as the team scales.
- Collaborate with a cross-disciplinary team of AI, BIM, and product engineers.
- Work on open-source projects that influence the global AEC community.
This isn’t even close to a BIM role — it’s a chance to build the digital substrate of construction’s future. If you’re ready to push the limits of what models can do, apply now and let’s build it right.
