Overview Start date: January 2026Contract type: Freelance Contract Duration: 12 monthsHybrid model: 3 days on-site and 2 days remote Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and manage a comprehensive software configuration management infrastructure aligned with DO-178C and related standards.Select, deploy, and configure CM tools, build environments, and version control systems to streamline development workflows.Establish and maintain version control repositories, build systems, and artifact management solutions to ensure traceability and integrity of software baselines.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, document, and maintain configuration baselines throughout the product lifecycle.Lead and administer change and problem reporting processes, ensuring effective tracking, review, and resolution of software issues.Coordinate and facilitate Change Control Boards (CCBs) to assess and authorize software modifications prior to release.Partner with software engineering, testing, and quality assurance teams to enable efficient and compliant software delivery pipelines.Provide training, documentation, and support on CM tools, standards, and best practices across the engineering organization. Qualifications and ExperienceBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.Proven background in software configuration management within aerospace, defence, or other safety-critical industries.Hands-on experience implementing and maintaining DO-178C compliant CM frameworks.Proficiency with version control and build systems such as Git, SVN, Jenkins, and Bamboo, as well as configuration management tools like IBM Rational and Jira.Strong understanding of DO-178C standards, software change control, and quality assurance principles.Solid knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and familiarity with Agile or Scrum environments.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and executive levels.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive, detail-oriented, and adaptable mindset.
