Job Description

We are seeking a Cost Management Director to deliver complex construction projects and act as the day‑to‑day interface with our clients, driving projects to achieve excellent outcomes. The role requires broad experience in pre‑contract cost planning and estimating, post‑contract commercial management, client‑facing leadership, and stakeholder relationship management.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide estimate and cost planning, including producing and presenting the final estimate.
• Estimate at conceptual, programming and detailed level.
• Compile feasibility studies.
• Prepare procurement reports.
• Perform all aspects of procurement, including managing the pre‑qualification stage, producing tender lists and tender analysis, and compiling contractual documents.
• Manage post‑contract cost variances and change control processes.
• Manage cost checks and valuation deliverables on larger projects, ensuring timely and accurate cost checking and valuation.
• Produce monthly cost reports and present them to the client.
• Lead value engineering initiatives and negotiate and settle final accounts.
• Maintain liaison with client and other consultants at all project stages.
• Provide leadership to cost management teams and ensure the delivery of appointed services scope.
• Identify opportunities to develop new business opportunities.
• Identify and implement improvements for cost management procedures, templates, and products.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in cost management.
• Experience leading cost management commissions for large, highly complex construction projects.
• Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as procurement routes, value management, life‑cycle costing.
• People management experience, particularly in the context of managing a team delivering a project.
• Sound technical experience in all cost management areas: pre‑contract, post‑contract, and final account.
• Good understanding of mechanical, process, electrical, plumbing and civil, structural and architectural aspects of construction.
• Experience in the German construction industry with knowledge of contractual documentation is advantageous.
• English proficiency required; fluent German language skills preferred.
• Excellent presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills; ability to multi‑task and be a team player.
• Working knowledge of MS Office software and modern cost management digital tools.
