Research Engineer

Founding Research Engineer at Huzzle Labs

Compensation: $100k–$250k base + equity + bonus

This role sits at the intersection of AI research and engineering. You will anticipate upcoming data needs at leading AI labs, turn those insights into concrete data products, and drive early pilots with teams working at the frontier.

The Role

• Anticipate future human data requirements by tracking recent research papers and gathering insight through your network.
• Translate research signals into executable data projects (across SFT / RLHF data, evals, RL environments, etc.)
• Scope projects end-to-end and coordinate with operations to support execution through early iterations.
• Work on internal data initiatives and run experiments you're excited about!
• Prepare data and project proposals for frontier AI labs.
• Lead technical GTM conversations with researchers.

Your background:

• Strong computer science background (BS/MS in CS or equivalent experience)
• Experience working with LLMs or agent systems
• Experience designing or implementing evaluation frameworks (model evals, benchmarks, or structured testing pipelines)
• Familiarity with post-training pipelines (SFT, RLHF)

Nice to Have:

• Experience building or working with RL environments
• Experience training or fine-tuning small models
• Prior experience working directly with AI researchers

Role Evolution

This role can evolve into a higher-level position, such as Founding GM, Huzzle Labs , with ownership over long‑term strategy, hiring, and investments.

Huzzle is a team of ~30 across Berlin, London, and San Francisco. We work primarily remotely, with hubs in Berlin and London, and plan to establish a physical presence in SF. We're backed by the co‑founder of Hugging Face, researchers from Magic, Meta, and Applied Intuition, and investors including 10X Founders, Emerge Capital, and Angel Invest.
