ABOUT KILL PARKINSON

Parkinson affects us all, sometimes sooner than we think. Recent calculations predict that the number of patients could double in the next 25 years. This means that some of us, our friends, family members or even our kids, may develop Parkinson. Let's fight for a world without Parkinson.

We believe that by combining the experiences and insights of many of the up to 10 million people affected, researchers can find patterns that will lead to better therapies. Therefore, our volunteer team is building a global, patient-led Parkinson registry.

Now we are looking for a dedicated, experienced, and passionate WordPress & CMS Expert to join our small IT team on a volunteer basis. If you are excited to contribute to a meaningful cause, we would love to have you on board

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

·     Develop and maintain our website , which will soon be completely relaunched with a much better UX/UI

·     Optimize the site structure and performance (SEO, GEO, speed)

·     Support multilingual content setup and translation workflows

·     Implement new content types and features (blog, project pages, forms)

·     Maintain the CMS, plugins, backups, and security setup

·     Work with our UX/UI team to develop new user features and implement them

·     Ensure accessibility and mobile responsiveness

·     Develop and maintain custom Gutenberg blocks for new content types, ensuring accessibility and multilingual support

·     Use AI tools and automation software cleverly and effectively to improve content creation, website management, and workflows

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

·     PHP – Familiarity with the WordPress API, custom post types, and plugin architecture

·     JavaScript – React basics and hands-on experience building Gutenberg blocks

·     HTML and CSS/SASS – essential

·     Experience connecting AI agents or APIs with WordPress or automation tools (e.g. Zapier, Make, or custom integrations)

DESIRED SKILLS

·     Strong PHP development background (hooks, filters, WP-CLI)

·     Proven ability to create Gutenberg blocks using @wordpress/scripts, Webpack, and React

·     Solid experience with multilingual WordPress setups

·     Familiarity with WP plugins, themes, and page builders (Elementor or similar)

·     Good eye for clean, user-friendly design (together with our UX/UI team)

·     Experience with SEO and GEO (Yoast Premium Account)

·     Experience with Google Analytics, Search Console, and Tag Manager

·     Fluent in English; German is a plus

·     Experience in Figma, Canva, or similar design tools is helpful

·     You are confident using AI tools in design, content generation, and automation

·     You have a collaborative mindset and experience working in remote, cross-functional teams
