Substation Physical Engineering Associate II – Remote/Hybrid Eligible

Mesa seeks a Substation Physical Engineering Associate II with 2-4 years of design related experience focused on electrical substations. The role involves designing physical equipment/systems for high, medium, and low voltage electrical substations and generating design drawings such as One Lines, Electrical Arrangements, Conduit/Grounding layouts, Equipment Plans/Elevations, and Bills of Material using AutoCAD and/or Microstation.

Responsibilities:

• Design and document physical equipment and systems for electrical substations.
• Produce detailed drawings for switchgear, transformers, electrical bus work, conduit/raceway, grounding, and lightning/static protection.
• Develop One Line diagrams, Electrical Arrangement diagrams, Conduit/Grounding layouts, Equipment Plans/Elevations, and Bills of Material.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure design feasibility and compliance with industry standards.
• Travel occasionally for overnight trips to substations in Arkansas, Southeast Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.

Qualifications:

• 2-4 years of design experience in high/medium/low voltage electrical substations or related power or process plant physical design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Microstation for creating detailed design drawings.
• Strong communication skills, self‑starter attitude, and keen eye for detail.
• Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.
• Valid U.S. driving license is preferred.

Depending on qualifications, the position may be fully remote within the Southeast U.S. or hybrid with our Knoxville, TN office.
