Thermal Systems Design Lead Engineer RISE (m/f/d)

As Lead Engineer for Thermal Systems Design, you will work on thermal design, analysis, and validation for the RISE Open Fan engine and technology development programs. You will utilize heat transfer and fluid mechanics analysis tools and established design principles to propose thermal systems that meet program requirements. Potential components include heat exchangers, seals, and complex fluid delivery systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, testing, and analysis of components needed for the engine’s thermal system, including heat exchangers, seals, or secondary air architectures, specifically in the context of the Open Fan technology maturation and demonstration programs.
  • Collaborate with global and diverse teams from multiple disciplines, including aerodynamic, mechanical, and systems design.
  • Communicate design risks to stakeholders to facilitate collective decision-making.
  • Lead technical projects, prioritise activities to deliver program objectives on time, while meeting cost and quality requirements.
  • Contribute to and lead technical reviews.
  • Participate in problem solving and innovation initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, with industry experience in turbomachinery thermal design or analysis.
  • Strong understanding of the physics and principles associated with thermal systems.
  • Proven track record in delivering on complex programs and ability to work in cross‑functional global teams in multi‑cultural environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to advance technology and generate innovative solutions.
  • Fluency in English.

Desired Characteristics

  • Hands‑on experience in thermal management, multi‑phase fluids, computational fluid dynamics for thermal systems design.
  • Experience in testing of thermal system components, including test planning, instrumentation, test execution, and data analysis.
