Working Student - Junior DevOps Engineer

Position: Junior DevOps Engineer (Working Students welcome) 50%Experience: 1–2 yearsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related fieldLocation: Mannheim, Germany (Onsite)Language Requirements: Proficient in both German and EnglishRelocation: Willingness to relocate to Mannheim required; onsite attendance expected What You’ll DoSupport the setup, management, and maintenance of our infrastructure and deployment pipelines within Microsoft Azure.Collaborate closely with founders and early team members to ensure the smooth operation, availability, and scalability of our environments.Implement and monitor the CI/CD process, helping to automate build, test, and deployment for both backend and frontend systems.Play a key role in protecting our systems by applying security best practices, regular auditing, and proactive threat detection on cloud infrastructure.Assist in maintaining databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB), backups, and data recovery processes.Set up and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to keep our systems robust and reliable.Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, and application issues together with the development team.Document key processes and configurations for future maintainability and compliance.Contribute practically to our collaborative, can-do startup culture with direct communication and a proactive approach. RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.1–2 years of hands-on experience in a DevOps, cloud engineering, or similar technical role.Familiarity with modern cloud platforms—solid experience with Microsoft Azure is required.Clear understanding of infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation.Basic experience with scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, or Python).Foundational knowledge of application and cloud security best practices.Exposure to managing databases in production, ideally PostgreSQL and MongoDB.Awareness of networking, monitoring, logging, and disaster recovery in a cloud context.Comfortable working in both English and German for technical topics.Self-motivated, eager to learn, and willing to take ownership in a fast-paced, small startup team.Willingness to relocate to Mannheim and work onsite is required.
