Course Code/Title: GER200Y0 Intermediate German 1

Course Description: This course continues the work done in GER100Y1 / GER101H1. It further expands on basic grammar and vocabulary, practice in comprehension, composition, and conversation.

The course will include a variety of field trips and travel within the country.

Class Schedule: Mondays to Fridays 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. plus additional time for field trips

Sessional dates of appointment: 6 May 2026 to 24 June 2026

Salary for a Y course:

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Qualifications:

  • Completed PhD preferred.
  • Proven teaching excellence and mastery of the subject area required.
  • Previous experience in teaching a study abroad course in Kassel, Germany is highly desirable.

Duties: The design, preparation and delivery of course content, including teaching lectures or seminars; creation of course ware; the development and administration of assignments, tests and examinations; invigilation of the final examination; the marking and grading of student work, and the submission of grades in accordance with established policies and procedures; the maintenance of reasonable hours of student contact outside scheduled classroom hours; and overseeing field trip planning, and participation on field trips.

This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.

Please note: Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows of the University of Toronto are covered by the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 collective agreement rather than the Unit 3 collective agreement, and should not apply for positions posted under the Unit 3 collective agreement.
