Advisor, R&D Portfolio Strategy & Management

In this role you drive R&D portfolio transformation at Elanco, turning static reporting into live, insight-guided evaluations. You partner across R&D, IT, and leadership to align portfolio decisions with strategy, governance, and resource constraints. You will shape the pipeline through data-driven methods, KPI dashboards, and cross-functional collaboration. • Portfolio Management Transformation: enhance processes, tools, and evaluation capabilities; pursue a single source of truth in the PPM ecosystem; design data improvements and roll out an AI-enabled PPM Intelligence solution.
• Strategic Liaison: partner with SPMO and Strategic Portfolio Leads to translate strategy into actionable priorities and reflect changes in valuation models.
• Portfolio Strategy: synthesize inputs to evaluate pipelines and recommend resource allocations aligned with corporate goals.
• Prioritization & Resource Allocation Support: perform portfolio-wide prioritization and trade-off assessments to optimize the mix.
• Performance Monitoring, Governance & Cross-Functional Collaboration: establish portfolio KPIs, create executive dashboards, and drive cross-functional alignment.

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Life Sciences, or related field (or equivalent)
• 8–10+ years in R&D Project Management within pharma or animal health
• Experience in R&D Operations Portfolio Management or Strategic Planning in life sciences
• Experience guiding process improvement, capability-building, or transformation initiatives
• Strong financial acumen with expertise in large datasets, quantitative modeling, and business case formation
• Proficiency with portfolio management and BI tools (Planisware, Tableau, Power BI, Advanced Excel)
