Artificial Intelligence for Video Compression - Research Scientist

In this role you will advance neural network–based video compression, collaborating with a world-class team to push state-of-the-art AI-driven codecs. You contribute to algorithm design, optimization, and documentation while engaging with standardization forums. The position involves presenting research, filing patents, and publishing results to influence future codecs and processing systems. • Contribute to conception, development, implementation, and optimization of neural network–based video compression algorithms
• Represent Qualcomm in standardization forums (JVET, MPEG Video, ITU-T/VCEG)
• Document and present new algorithms and implementations in standards contributions, patents, conference papers, journals

• AI/ML algorithms related to data compression or computer vision
• Knowledge of theory, algorithms, and techniques in video and image coding
• Experience with video compression standards (VVC/H.266 or HEVC/H.265) is a significant benefit
• Track record of research accomplishments through publications or patents
• Programming skills in Python and C/C++, with experience in PyTorch or similar ML framework
• Strong written and verbal English communication; ability to work in a team
