Digital Power Systems (DPS) is a power‑electronics startup rooted in the renowned research environment of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). We engineer exceptionally durable power supplies and innovative dimming solutions for industrial and commercial customers around the world. To drive our next product innovation, we are offering a unique opportunity for a talented electrical engineering student to complete their thesis with us—bringing an advanced AC dimmer from concept to market‑ready product.
This is not a side project. You will be an integral part of our R&D team, taking full ownership of the AC dimmer development. Your tasks will encompass circuit design, microcontroller programming (STM32, WCH, RISC‑V), prototyping, PCB layout, and testing—all the way to production readiness. You will work alongside experienced engineers who will mentor you, but you will be the go‑to person for this product. To ensure academic recognition, we will provide a professor to formally supervise your thesis, so you can concentrate fully on the technical challenge without administrative hurdles.
By joining DPS for your thesis, you gain far more than a grade. You will experience the complete product development cycle in a fast‑paced startup, deepen your expertise in power electronics and embedded systems, and see the tangible impact of your work on a real product that will be manufactured and sold internationally. If you are passionate about electronics, enjoy taking initiative, and want to turn theory into practice, we are eager to meet you.
