Contract Manager (f/m/d)

In this Contract Manager role within Hitachi Energy's HVDC project business, you will drive contract execution and risk management across EPC projects. You’ll work closely with project teams to shape contract strategies, manage commercial terms, and support negotiations with customers and subcontractors. Your role ensures timely, accurate contract administration and safeguarding the company's interests through the project lifecycle. This position offers exposure to complex international energy projects and meaningful contribution to the energy transition.

• Develop and implement contract strategies to minimize risks and maximize opportunities
• Administer day-to-day contract management, including correspondence, amendments, claims and change orders
• Lead negotiations and prepare for discussions with stakeholders (legal, insurance, tax)
• Analyze contract documents (conditions, specs, schedules) and conduct contract workshops
• Manage invoicing, claims, change orders, insurance requirements across the portfolio
• Collaborate with Legal to align on major claims and support disputes, litigation, arbitration where needed
• Support project close-out ensuring all contractual obligations are fulfilled

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Law, or related field (minimally Bachelor's)
• Solid knowledge of German contract law and practical application
• Strong written and verbal German and English communication and negotiation skills
• 5–10 years of experience as Contract Manager in EPC projects with complex contracts (preferred)
• Expertise in claims and change management and assessment of contract-related legal matters
• Experience working with customers and subcontractors on contract and project issues
• Willingness to travel 10–20% (family-friendly arrangements possible)
• Experience in German grid infrastructure projects a strong advantage
