EMS Instructors (Adjunct/PRN)

CTCCE is seeking qualified individuals to serve as instructors for our paramedic, AEMT, and/or EMT courses.

Lead Instructors

Lead instructors commit to a cohort and serve as the primary instructor for that cohort. Additionally, the lead instructor helps the program director or designee ensure that students in that cohort meet program requirements. Lead instructors coordinate assistant/lab instructors for lab sessions, provide oversight of assist/lab instructors, and ensure equipment and supplies are on site for lab sessions.

Commitment for Lead Instructors

Paramedic - Commit to one or two days per week plus administration time for up to 16 months (depending on the program)
AEMT - Commit to either two 4-hour evenings per week for one 8-hour day per week for approx. 20 weeks.
EMT - Commit to either two 4-hour evenings per week for one 8-hour day per week for approx. 14 weeks.

Lead instructors can either be contract (1099) or part time employees.

Qualifications

In addition to being at or above the level teaching, lead instructors should have at least 5 years of experience. Some teaching experience is required; teaching at the initial EMS education level is preferred. The VA EMS EC is required for EMT Lead Instructors.

Assist/Lab Instructors

Lab instructors teach the skills and simulation sessions of initial EMS courses.

Commitment for Lab Instructors

Paramedic - Multiple lab sessions per week are available for a cohort for up to 16 months (depending on the program)
AEMT - Typically, AEMT lab meet one 4-hour session per week for approx. 20 weeks.
EMT - EMT lab sessions are either two 4-hour evenings per week for one 8-hour day per week for approx. 14 weeks.

Lab instructors can either be contract (1099) or part time employees.

Lab instructors must be certified at or above the level they are teaching. Some teaching experience is preferred, particularly as an FTO or skills/adjunct instructor for initial education courses.

Clinical Instructors

Clinical instructors provide direct on-sight clinical instruction of EMS students while in the clinical environment. Clinical instructors also ensure students complete all required documentation for that shift.

Commitment for Clinical Instructors

Shifts are typically 6-8 hours long.

Because of the needs of clinical instructors are so variable, clinical instructors are limited to contract (1099).

Qualifications For Clinical Instructors

Clinical instructors must be certified at or above the level they are teaching. They should have some experience in the ER/hospital environment as a tech or paramedic. Some teaching experience is preferred, particularly as an FTO or skills/adjunct instructor for initial education courses.

Clinical Instructors may be required to complete additional VCU HS onboarding, including but not limited to, submitting the required vaccination history.
