Overview

In this role you will optimize the core ClickHouse database and drive performance across distributed systems. You’ll collaborate with core and open-source teams to assess feature impact, extend performance tests, and help debug advanced performance issues for customers. You will engage with the open-source community, review contributions, and contribute to performance-focused initiatives for both open source and ClickHouse Cloud offerings. This fast-paced, collaborative environment seeks a hands-on engineer who ships measurable performance improvements and scalable solutions.

Verantwortungsbereiche

Analyze and optimize performance of the core ClickHouse database
Extend and create performance tests based on real-world and synthetic data
Support Engineering team with debugging performance issues for customers
Collaborate with other core teams to assess feature impact on performance
Engage with the open-source community: review PRs, resolve issues, answer questions
Contribute to performance tests and advice for colleagues
Monitor and improve efficiency, availability, and scalability of systems

Zentrale Anforderungen

Solid professional software development experience in C++
Experience with Unix systems
Strong knowledge of database internals and design
Experience in performance engineering (databases or similar domains)
Strong communication and cross-team collaboration
Willingness to work with the open-source community and participate in code reviews
Good production debugging skills
Passion for efficiency, availability, scalability and data governance
Ownership and accountability in a fast-paced environment
Bonus: experience with ClickHouse, security/privacy/compliance, TCP/IP/network programming, cloud infra (Kubernetes), public talks, open source contributions
