Staff Software Engineer – 5G Standalone Core

In this hybrid Berlin role, you own the design, build, and operation of emnify’s cloud-native 5G Standalone core. You set technical direction, remain hands-on across the stack, and work with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable network functions. You will design roaming signaling and interworking, deploy on AWS and Kubernetes, and mentor peers to raise engineering standards. You’ll tackle live telecom issues and shape the未来 of emnify’s SuperNetwork.

• Architect and build cloud-native 5G SA core components (NFs) and SB interfaces
• Own end-to-end 5G roaming signaling and interworking across networks
• Deploy and operate the core at scale on AWS and Kubernetes with high availability and observability
• Set technical direction, review designs, and mentor engineers across squads
• Troubleshoot complex live telecom issues from core protocols to running services
• Work across OSS/BSS integration and AI-agentic workflows for software components

• Deep, hands-on 5G Standalone core expertise (core signaling, roaming, NFs)
• Cloud-native networking, service mesh, observability for high-throughput systems
• Hands-on software engineering in at least one of C++, Go, or Java
• Experience with large-scale infrastructure deployment and orchestration (AWS, Kubernetes)
• Proven experience running telecommunications services at scale in production
• Willingness to work across the tech stack and deliver end-to-end solutions
