Staff Software Engineer

In this Staff Software Engineer role, you act as a technical anchor, shaping architecture and shipping robust backend systems. You own projects end-to-end—from prototyping to deployment—across resilient distributed software and edge ML pipelines. You mentor, align technical decisions with broader business goals, and elevate engineering practices. You will work closely with product, programme leads, and customers to translate complex designs into actionable outcomes. • Lead and review complex code, proposals, and RFCs; unblock others through mentoring
• Architect and implement major features, infrastructure, or full products across the stack
• Bridge engineering and business; translate technical designs for non-technical stakeholders
• Mentor engineers, grow the interviewing pipeline, and foster engineering culture
• Share knowledge through tech talks and community activities
• Maintain and evolve the software stack; diagnose issues and address technical debt
• Design robust test architectures and benchmarks for reliability and performance
• Present work at weekly demos and gather early feedback

• Proven track record of highly legible, maintainable, and performance-optimised systems code
• Systems-level thinker capable of end-to-end integration across heterogeneous systems
• Strong English communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
• Collaborative, low-ego mindset with experience in pair programming and code reviews
• Proficient in asynchronous work practices (robust PRs, RFCs, email discussions)
• Senior-to-staff level backend development with expert mastery in a systems language (Rust, Java, Go, or C++)
