Doctoral Researcher in Ground and Flight Testing (eVTOL & Fixed Wing Drones)

The TUM Chair of Aircraft Design is seeking a doctoral researcher in Ground and Flight Testing of eVTOL and fixed‑wing drones/UAVs. The research will provide high‑quality test data for validation of design and simulation models, and verify new configurations. In addition to research, the candidate will assist with lectures, organizational tasks of the chair, and general UAV design activities.

Requirements

• MSc. or Dipl. in aerospace or mechanical engineering with above‑average performance.
• Experience in designing, building, and testing/flying UAV concepts or model aircraft.
• Fundamental knowledge of aerospace engineering, especially aircraft design.
• Expertise in testing and test equipment, and operation of high‑performance model/scale aircraft.
• Strong communication and written English skills for publishing scientific papers.
• Only EU citizens are eligible due to security restrictions.

Tasks

• Participate in multiple research projects focused on novel UAV solutions for civil and military applications.
• Join the research team to develop and demonstrate new technologies, systems, and aircraft designs through ground and flight testing.
• Support lectures and organizational duties of the chair.

A full‑time researcher position with a fixed‑term contract and a salary in accordance with the German state regulated public service salary scale (TV‑L E13).
