The Borstel Research Center is an internationally renowned research institute with 550 employees, financed by the Federal Government and the State of Schleswig-Holstein. Our central task is research and patient care in the field of respiratory diseases. We operate both basic research infrastructures and a medical clinic. Our goal is to improve existing methods for the detection, prevention and treatment of lung diseases and to develop new, innovative therapeutic approaches.

Part‑time doctoral student (m/f/d) – 3 years

Job Description

You will work on projects of the German Center of Infection Research (DZIF) with a focus on analytical approaches towards the development of novel diagnostics and therapeutics in tuberculosis research. Your work will contribute to the investigation of host‑pathogen interaction and the development and application of LC‑MS/MS methods for PK/PD studies of novel drugs and drug formulations. In our interdisciplinary projects you will work on LC‑IMS workflows for metabolomics and lipidomics.

Qualifications

• Completed master studies in natural sciences with a focus on organic chemistry, natural compounds, biochemistry and/or analytical chemistry.
• Proven work record in the structural characterization of biomolecules using NMR and/or mass spectrometry.
• Experience with lipid analysis and bioinformatics would be beneficial.
