Position: Doctoral researcher (w/m/d) in Life Science – cardiac metabolism

Employment type: Part‑time (morning, afternoon) – 65% of full‑time hours (38.5 h/w)

Contract: Temporary under Vocational Training and Employment Floor until , with options for extension and PhD promotion.

Compensation: EG 13 (TV‑L)

Research Focus

Our group combines basic science researchers and clinical cardiologists. We investigate molecular mechanisms in cardiac disease models and the role of incretin hormones (GLP‑1, GIP) and SGLT2 inhibitors. We also study cross‑organ processes in multimorbidity (e.g., diabetes, kidney disease) and cardiovascular disease. Work includes cell culture, mouse experiments, and aims to translate findings into clinical practice.

Responsibilities

• Support and conduct mouse experiments
• Maintain and monitor mice (control, weigh, feed)
• Assist with blood sampling and metabolic analyses
• Perform independent laboratory work
• Cell culture work
• Histological analyses
• Molecular/biochemical assays (e.g., Western blot, real‑time PCR)
• Isolation of primary cells and mitochondria

Qualifications

• Completed Master’s degree in a natural science field (e.g., Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, or comparable)
• Practical experience with standard protein chemistry and molecular biology techniques
• Organized, independent, team‑oriented, detail‑oriented, good communication skills
• Willingness to learn new skills and be trained in new task areas
• Motivation to actively contribute to project design
• Preferred: FELASA B certificate, data/text processing skills, English B2 level
