Expert - Electronics and High-Tech

In this role you help clients in electronics and high-tech industries solve complex operational and technology challenges. You will shape solutions, drive transformational change, and build long-term capabilities within McKinsey’s Operations Practice. You work with cross-functional teams across a global network to identify gaps, develop analyses and recommendations, and influence senior leadership. This is a hands-on, entrepreneurial position with a clear impact on client outcomes and knowledge development.

• Identify issues or performance gaps and form hypotheses to guide analyses
• Design and conduct analyses, develop practical recommendations, and discuss findings with client leadership
• Act as an entrepreneur to open new client opportunities and reinvent McKinsey’s approaches
• Advise developing consultants and contribute technical insight in electronics/high-tech on client projects
• Collaborate with the global network to shape McKinsey’s thinking in technology and high tech
• Support senior project leadership and integrate technical expertise into client solutions
• Base in one of McKinsey's European offices as part of the Operations Practice

• Academic degree in engineering, electrical engineering, or physics
• 8+ years of experience in technology and high tech across R&D and cost topics in leading companies
• Strong background in electronics enabling effective discussions with head engineers on designs
• Ability to challenge system, circuit, and component design and perform complex electronics and cost calculations (including chip die cost estimation)
• Ability to explore opportunities in adjacent topics and guide international junior team members
• Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration skills
• Fluent in English and local language writing/speaking
• Team leadership experience (initial "team leader" experiences)
