We conduct Eurosystem monetary policy and foreign exchange operations, act as the ECB’s "eyes and ears" in the financial markets, monitor and study financial market developments, gather market intelligence, develop and maintain the Eurosystem monetary policy implementation framework.
In your role as a Financial Market Expert in the Cross Market Analysis and Intelligence Division, you will be part of a team of around 25‑30 experts, research analysts and trainees responsible for monitoring, analysing and reporting on recent and structural developments and trends in financial markets, focusing on their implications for monetary policy implementation and the functioning of euro area financial markets. The Division coordinates market intelligence activities across the Directorate General Market Operations and acts as a hub for in‑depth horizontal market analysis, policy impact assessments, and the development and adoption of a common analytical toolkit.
The ECB is an inclusive employer and we strive to reflect the diversity of the population we serve. We encourage you to apply irrespective of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, race, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or other characteristics.
The position offers you excellent opportunities to shape the financial market analysis that is central to the ECB’s policy decisions. You will also contribute to high‑profile products for the ECB’s decision‑making bodies. You will work in a dynamic and intellectually stimulating environment that provides a unique platform for professional growth, strategic impact, and collaboration with leading experts in the field. You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens.
We engage collaboratively with others. You pursue team goals and learn willingly from other people’s diverse perspectives. You signal any need for change by explaining it and proposing alternative solutions. You analyse complex information effectively and can evaluate different views to arrive at solutions. You know and anticipate stakeholder needs. You are motivated to contribute to the ECB’s mission, to serve the citizens of the EU as a member of a public institution and to work with colleagues from all over Europe. You are motivated to be part of our team and to develop and use your skills and competencies to achieve the aims of this position.
To enable the Division to maintain its business continuity capability, you will occasionally be expected to perform work during non‑standard working hours and work at the ECB’s standby sites. We would be happy to discuss a part‑time arrangement for this role.
The contract offered will be fixed‑term, non‑convertible, for a duration of 14 months from the starting date. Temporary appointments may be extended or made permanent subject to organisational needs and budgetary constraints. This may result in a staff member with a non‑convertible fixed‑term contract being offered a convertible contract in accordance with the ECB Conditions of Employment. The recruitment process for this position will be conducted remotely. It will include a written exercise, a presentation and an interview.
