We seek a mathematician with an exceptional international research profile whose work bridges different areas of mathematics through a focus on applied mathematics . The research should align with the objectives of the Cluster of Excellence and the Centre for Mathematics Münster .

We particularly encourage applications from researchers working at the intersection of mathematical fields well-established in Münster, including:

• Numerical analysis
• PDEs, SPDEs
• Optimisation and calculus of variations
• Probability theory
• Functional analysis
• Topology and geometry

Expertise in complementary areas, such as scientific machine learning and data analytics , is also welcome.

• Play a fundamental role within the Cluster of Excellence Mathematics Münster and the applied mathematics institutes , including their teaching programmes.
• Strengthen the role of mathematics in the University of Münster’s Centre for Data Science and Complexity and the newly established master’s degree programme in Data Science .
• Take a visible role in intra- and interdisciplinary collaborations , as well as in existing and planned third-party funded projects and research centres.

• Doctoral degree in mathematics or a related field .
• Outstanding international research profile and corresponding teaching experience.
• Academic achievements as a Juniorprofessor (assistant professor) , in a Habilitation (postdoctoral qualification) , or in a research position at a university, non-university research institute, business, administration, or other relevant field in Germany or abroad.
