About the Role: Head of Marketing & Communications, Germany
We are working in partnership with a global leader in sovereign intelligence and satellite technology to appoint a Head of Marketing & Communications for Germany.
This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for shaping and defining the organisation’s voice, positioning, and reputation across the German market during a critical phase of international growth and geopolitical relevance.
Reporting Line and Strategic Context
Based in Berlin and reporting to the Global CMO with a dotted line into the Germany CEO, the successful candidate will operate at the intersection of defence, aerospace, technology, government affairs, media, and strategic communications.
The organisation operates one of the world’s most advanced technology platforms for defence, intelligence, security, environmental monitoring, and emergency response.

This is not a traditional communications role. It is a founding leadership mandate requiring strong judgement, strategic thinking, precision, and the ability to build credibility within highly sensitive and complex environments.
Key Responsibilities of the Head of Marketing & Communications
Strategic Communications and Brand Leadership in Germany
- Define and lead the German marketing and communications strategy
- Shape and strengthen the organisation’s positioning and reputation across Germany
- Develop compelling narratives and messaging across corporate, policy, defence, media, and stakeholder communications
- Ensure consistent brand positioning across all channels and external touchpoints
- Establish clear communication frameworks aligned with business priorities and strategic growth
Media Relations and Senior Stakeholder Management
- Lead media relations, PR strategy, thought leadership, and sensitive communications activities
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across government, defence, media, and industry
- Support executive visibility and external positioning within highly regulated and politically sensitive environments
- Manage reputational risks and ensure clear, strategic, and disciplined messaging
Commercial Partnership and Business Growth
- Partner closely with government affairs, sales, strategic capture teams, and global marketing leadership
- Support strategic programmes and business growth through impactful communications and positioning
- Develop communications initiatives aligned with commercial priorities and long-term market expansion
- Measure communications effectiveness through meaningful KPIs and reporting frameworks
Team Leadership and Communications Operations
- Build and lead a high-performing communications function over time
- Manage external agencies across PR, creative, design, and events as one integrated ecosystem
- Foster a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and high-performance culture
- Ensure all communications comply with relevant legal, security, and regulatory frameworks, including VS-NfD and VSVgV requirements
Skills and Experience Required for This Marketing and Communications Role
- Proven experience within defence, aerospace, satellite, geospatial, dual-use technology, or another highly complex technical sector
- Strong expertise in strategic communications, corporate affairs, PR, media relations, and brand positioning
- Experience building or transforming brands within international or high-growth environments
- Strong understanding of the German political, defence, industrial, and regulatory landscape
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both German and English
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience operating within sensitive, high-stakes, or regulated communications environments
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing capabilities at senior leadership level
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, agencies, and cross-functional international projects
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced growth environment
