Head of Project Toxicology

In this role you define and lead Evotec's safety assessment strategy across the drug discovery and development portfolio. You will mentor a team of toxicology experts and partner with discovery, development, and global clients to drive data-driven safety decisions. You’ll guide safety strategy from early target safety assessment to development candidate nomination and support regulatory submissions. This position offers cross-functional influence and opportunities to shape programs across modalities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

• Define and advance the organisation’s safety strategy for internal programs and external partnerships
• Inspire, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of toxicologists
• Guide safety strategy from Target Safety Assessment through DC nomination across small and large molecules
• Serve as SME to enable design, execution, and interpretation of regulatory toxicology studies for Phase 1 trials and beyond
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with global clients aligning on safety strategy
• Foster integration and transparent communication across internal functions
• Cultivate a culture of ownership, trust, accountability, and empowerment

• Extensive senior-level toxicology experience in biotech, pharma, or CRO environments with strategic/operational project experience
• Proven leadership of interdisciplinary, cross-functional teams in a complex matrix
• Excellent communication and data synthesis skills for clear risk-balanced recommendations
• Track record of advancing programs from preclinical discovery to clinical development across modalities
• Deep expertise in preclinical drug discovery models and alignment with development objectives
• Strong stakeholder management and collaboration across discovery, clinical, regulatory, and operations
• Experience in IND/CTA submissions for small molecules and biologics
• Comprehensive knowledge of global regulatory safety guidelines across modalities
• Strong organizational and planning abilities in fast-paced settings
