Job Title: Senior Researcher in Embedded Research for SAP Autonomous Suite / CX (f/m/d)

In this role you bridge data science and engineering to turn development data into actionable insights, boosting delivery predictability and customer satisfaction across SAP Commerce cycles. You will collaborate with academia and internal teams to embed research findings into scalable, product-ready practices. The role sits within the Academic Partnerships team, focusing on interdisciplinary research and AI-enabled planning to accelerate innovation. You’ll influence product directions at scale while nurturing industry-academic collaborations.

• Design and maintain a Commerce-wide engineering metrics framework to track delivery health
• Review metrics health at team, product, and portfolio level to surface bottlenecks and delivery risks
• Embed retrospective learnings into process standards for continuous improvement
• Pilot AI-assisted tooling to improve planning accuracy and workflow automation
• Share engineering excellence practices to accelerate predictable delivery across squads
• Bridge the gap between academic findings and industry
• Participate in interdisciplinary research activities with the PhD graduate team
• Support SAP-research strategy and be active in research mentoring programs
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders

• Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in Computer Science or Information Systems with focus on large-scale agile, metrics, or communities of practice in software organizations
• Publications/ research background in innovation in software development models and AI adoption
• Proven experience leading industry-academic research projects with data-driven recommendations
• Hands-on data analysis, LLM/AI prototyping, and working with engineering telemetry data (e.g., Jira) to generate delivery insights
• Programming skills (Python, Java, JavaScript)
• Experience managing industry-academic partnerships and multi-stakeholder initiatives
• Structured, scientific approach to challenging research topics
• Understanding of SAP product strategy and the Autonomous Enterprise
• Experience integrating AI assistants in workflows and quality assurance
• Strong collaboration and team-oriented mindset
• English written and verbal communication; German a plus
