(Senior) Research Engineer (f/m/d): SAP Data for Foundation Models on Structured Data

In this role you will advance foundation models for structured business data within SAP’s AI research group, tackling scalable training, benchmarks, and real-world business problems. You collaborate with domain experts and academia to publish benchmarks and models, while enabling broad data access and open-source contributions. You join a global, mission-driven team focused on bringing AI innovations to enterprise applications. • Conduct experiments on internal and public data to push foundation model capabilities
• Develop evaluation frameworks and benchmark suites for new tasks
• Enable large-scale access to business data and model training in a research-driven setting
• Collaborate with domain experts and data owners to align business data with foundation model training
• Develop training datasets and semantic-rich benchmarks.
• Make design choices on underlying technologies and implement them in practice
• Release models and frameworks to the open-source community

• PhD or Master’s degree in relevant disciplines
• 5+ years of experience with machine learning on structured data in business contexts
• Experience in training foundation models at scale
• Strong data engineering experience with hands-on problem solving
• Fluent Python programming
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in cross-cultural teams
• Experience with SAP Applications and their data models is a plus
