Job Summary

The National Sales VP will promote the sale of annuity products (traditional fixed, FIAs and Immediate Annuities) through the leadership and management of a group of Regional Directors. This position will work with long-established agent relationships and is responsible for achieving sales targets set by the company. Additionally, the role will foster production through independent insurance agents, continually recruit and develop new agent relationships, and lead wholesaling activities. The VP will train agents on products, sales ideas, and procedures through seminars and meetings, recruit new accounts, negotiate appropriate contract levels, develop sales and marketing plans, and recommend company “investment” in distribution opportunities. The position reports to the SVP, Annuity Distribution.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage Regional Directors, focusing on performance, coaching, development, and accountability to specific sales goals.
  • Coordinate the development of marketing plans for Regional Director territories.
  • Oversee wholesaling effectiveness and metrics for the Regional Directors.
  • Create metrics to measure and manage the activity and results of the Regional Directors.
  • Assist in coordinating primary activities of the internal Premier Service Team.
  • Generate monthly reports and deliver ad‑hoc projects to the SVP.
  • Assist in maintaining and developing annuity competitive intelligence.
  • Represent annuity sales on committees or project teams.
  • Partner with operations and legal to ensure a positive field service experience.
  • Maintain successful business relationships with National Account VPs, National Account Managers, and internal stakeholders through frequent communication.
  • Encourage, support, and participate in meetings and seminars that promote Fidelity & Guaranty Life.
  • Develop knowledge of specific agent requirements as they relate to home office service capabilities and procedures.
  • Coordinate activity management with Director Internal Sales and provide direction to the Senior Internal Wholesaler, focusing on new account implementation and training.
  • Coordinate action plans to assure complete coverage of agents with high potential to the company.
  • Identify opportunities for, and coordinate the development of, consistent high‑quality presentations and other promotional pieces to support marketing efforts.
  • Research, monitor and track competitor products and pricing and assess their impact on FGL’s competitive positioning.
  • Contribute competitive intelligence and suggestions to the SVP, Annuity Distribution in design, positioning and opportunity.
  • Prepare management reports, including activity reports and an extensive semi‑annual review of key accounts.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This role has people leadership responsibilities, including managing performance, developing talent, and supporting engagement and team effectiveness.

  • Demonstrated success in sales, marketing, and project management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Strong project management, organizational and follow‑up skills.
  • Insurance industry knowledge.
  • Ability to foster effective working relationships within the organization and with key accounts.
  • Proficient PC skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Education Level

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or equivalent experience.

Years of Experience

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in key account management.

License/Certification

  • Industry‑recognized designation preferred such as CLU, ChFC, CFP, or security license.

Other Requirements

  • This position primarily involves sedentary work, requiring long periods of sitting, regular use of a computer, and occasional standing or walking, with reasonable accommodations available.
  • Perform other functions, duties and projects as assigned.
  • Regular and punctual attendance.

Ability to travel up to: 70% of the time
