KLA

Optomechanical Engineer

Stellenbeschreibung:

Company Overview

KLA is a global leader in diversified electronics for the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem. Virtually every electronic device in the world is produced using our technologies. KLA invents systems and solutions for the manufacturing of wafers and reticles, integrated circuits, packaging, printed circuit boards and flat panel displays. Our expert teams of physicists, engineers, data scientists and problem‑solvers work together with the world’s leading technology providers to accelerate the delivery of tomorrow’s electronic devices. We invest 15% of sales back into R&D.

Group/Division

The Office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) plays a critical role in developing advanced long‑range technology in collaboration with product divisions and strategic marketing, working on future technology such as light sources, lasers, and sensors. We partner with product engineering groups to build products based on the mature technology we develop and provide technical input into KLA’s strategic planning, program reviews and product life‑cycle phases.

Job Description

KLA is hiring an Opto‑mechanical Engineer to join our CTO Optical Development group. In this role, you will shape KLA’s optical technology roadmap, drive the development of next‑generation optomechanical systems for semiconductor process control, and enable ultra‑high‑NA optical solutions across the EUV to NIR spectrum under extreme precision, stability and environmental constraints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop advanced optomechanical architectures across EUV, VUV, DUV, VIS, and NIR systems
  • Define and optimize optical mounting, alignment strategies, and system error budgets
  • Perform detailed thermal and structural analyses using FEM tools
  • Conduct vibration analyses (modal, PSD, harmonic response) to ensure system stability
  • Execute CFD simulations to assess airflow and thermal management concepts
  • Lead material selection, bonding/cementing approaches, and long‑term stability design
  • Ensure compliance with cleanliness, photocontamination and stray light requirements
  • Develop solutions for operation in vacuum and cleanroom environmentsDrive prototyping, system integration, and experimental validation
  • Define and implement optical alignment concepts and tooling (e.g., autocollimators, wavefront sensors)
  • Collaborate closely with cross‑functional engineering teams and high‑end external suppliers

Qualifications

  • MSc or PhD in Mechanical, Optomechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • ≥5 years of experience in high‑precision optical system development
  • Strong experience with high‑NA optical systems (EUV/DUV/VUV preferred)
  • Proficiency in CAD and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS Mechanical, CREO, SolidWorks, FEM platforms)
  • Deep understanding of thermal, structural, and material behavior in precision systems
  • Familiarity with advanced manufacturing and precision engineering technologies
  • Proven track record in supplier collaboration, prototyping and system realization
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities

What Drives Success

  • Hands‑on, innovation‑driven mindset with a passion for pushing technical boundaries
  • Strong system‑level thinking and attention to detail
  • Ability to thrive in cutting‑edge R&D environments with high complexity
  • Collaborative, solution‑oriented approach across disciplines and organizations

Benefits

We offer a competitive, family‑friendly total rewards package. We design our programs to reflect our commitment to an inclusive environment, while ensuring we provide benefits that meet the diverse needs of our employees.
