Principal Com-Sys Design Engineer

In this role you will design and optimize wireless PHY and modem algorithms for low-power products within Microchip's Wireless Systems Group. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across RF/Analog, Digital, Validation and Software to translate requirements into robust specifications and validated implementations. • Design, develop, and simulate communication system and PHY-layer modem algorithms for wireless applications
• Develop and validate system models, fixed-point models, and hardware-aware algorithm implementations
• Translate product and system requirements into clear technical specifications for RF, digital, software, and validation teams
• Collaborate with RF/Analog, Digital, Validation and Software teams for bringing-up, testing and troubleshooting of test chips and SOCs
• Simulate communication systems and participate in digital block design
• Participate in RFIP design regarding block specs & controls

• Masters or PhD in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in design and implementation of wireless PHY systems
• Technical leadership experience in owning the Modem and DFE subsystem is highly desired
• Strong background in signal processing and communication theory
• Experience in MATLAB, C/C++ and fixed-point/cycle-true programming and simulation
• Experience on Modem and digital front-end blocks design
• Experience in IC design production support, RFIP calibration and testing
• Experience in Bluetooth, UWB and/or WiFi is an advantage
• A team player; able to identify and resolve technical and schedule issues with team members
• Team management skills would be an advantage
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical materials effectively and produce good quality engineering documentation
