Public Health Data Governance Analyst

Own the development and ongoing operation of data governance and data management practices within the Public Health Division
Curate, document, organize, and maintain Public Health data assets and metadata in Collibra
Drive adoption and usage of Collibra
Ensure data is accurately documented, understood, appropriately governed, and available for effective use
Support development and maintenance of data governance processes, standards, guidelines, and SOPs
Gather, document, validate, and maintain business and technical metadata with Business and Data Stewards
Maintain the Public Health data catalog, business glossary, data definitions, and governance documentation
Document data ownership, stewardship, classifications, business rules, data quality requirements, and data lineage
Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and improvement opportunities in metadata and data documentation
Facilitate governance workgroups and meetings, prepare materials, document decisions, and track follow-up actions
Facilitate discussions with business and technical stakeholders to establish shared understanding of data definitions, ownership, and business rules
Support the Data Governance Lead in developing, reviewing, and maintaining governance standards, procedures, guidelines, and SOPs
Assist with implementing and continuously improving Public Health data governance processes and practices
Document data lineage and relationships between source systems, data warehouse assets, and reporting and analytics products
Develop and maintain metrics and reports on metadata completeness, stewardship activities, data quality, and governance adoption
Collaborate with Public Health programs, data engineering, analytics, IT, privacy, security, and other stakeholders on data initiatives

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Data Management, Business, Analytics, or a related field; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education
Knowledge of data governance, data stewardship, metadata management, data catalogs, business glossaries, and data quality practices
Hands-on experience with Collibra strongly preferred, including training business users, curation and maintenance of data assets, metadata, business glossaries, and related governance content
Experience with a similar data governance or data catalog tool may be considered in lieu of Collibra experience
Strong analytical, organizational, facilitation, written, and verbal communication skills
Experience building effective relationships with Business and Data Stewards, subject matter experts, and technical stakeholders to gather, validate, and maintain metadata
Exposure to Databricks, Snowflake, Power BI, ArcGIS, or similar data and analytics platforms preferred
Experience developing and maintaining process documentation, standards, procedures, guidelines, or Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
