Role

Senior backend engineer responsible for leading a team to design and build cloud-native, scalable backend applications using Go or Kotlin with deep integration of LLMs and AI-coding tools. Accountable for architecture, implementation, API design, quality assurance and end-to-end delivery from prototype to production.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and mentoring for a team of software engineers and drive the adoption of AI-assisted development practices.
• Design, implement and evolve robust, cloud-native applications and platform services.
• Develop high-efficiency, scalable backend systems primarily in Go or Kotlin with consistent, deep usage of LLMs and modern AI-coding tools.
• Define and integrate synchronous and asynchronous APIs in close collaboration with frontend and mobile teams.
• Take end-to-end responsibility across the software development lifecycle, from rapid prototyping to production-ready scaling.
• Ensure code quality, security, testability and performance through code reviews, clean-code practices and high test coverage.
• Analyze and optimize development workflows by applying AI to increase delivery speed and software quality.

Requirements

• Completed degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent education.
• Extensive, long-standing experience in software development with Go or Kotlin.
• Proven experience in technical leadership and mentoring.
• Pragmatic understanding of frontend technologies (Vue.js, Angular) and ideally experience with Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP).
• Deep familiarity with LLMs, context engineering and AI-coding tools beyond basic prompt development.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills, team and communication skills.
• High quality standards with a focus on testability, security and maintainability.
• Business-fluent German and very good English for international teamwork.
