Overview

As a Senior Fluid Systems Design Engineer in Ground Systems, you will develop the ground fluid infrastructure for safe, reliable rocket testing and launches. You’ll collaborate with propulsion and vehicle teams to translate requirements into robust fluid systems and operations concepts. You’ll tackle diverse challenges from design through commissioning, shaping facilities like engine test rigs and launch pads. This role offers hands-on impact across development, qualification, and site operations, with a clear path to leadership in system design reviews and tests.

Verantwortungsbereiche
  • Design fluid systems for test and launch facilities (engine test rigs, pressurization rigs, launch pads)
  • Perform sizing calculations and simulations for cryogenic, high-pressure gas, and distribution systems
  • Select and procure fluid hardware (tanks, pumps, heat exchangers, valves, regulators, instrumentation)
  • Prepare technical documentation (PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, notes) for manufacturing planning
  • Lead and contribute to system design reviews and risk assessments
  • Lead or support factory and site acceptance tests; participate in commissioning planning and hands-on site operations
  • Support test and launch campaigns on-site or remotely with operations or data analyses
Zentrale Anforderungen
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in aerospace, mechanical, process/energy/chemical engineering or equivalent
  • 0 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • In-depth knowledge of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics; practical application to hardware like valves and regulators
  • Analytical skills to apply theory to practical fluid/mechanical problems
  • Basic knowledge of high-pressure gas and cryogenic liquid systems in rocket facilities
  • Fluent in English
  • Availability for occasional international travel
  • Adjusting self-sufficiently to changing work environment
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented team player
  • Proactive, open, effective communication
  • Fluid mechanics and thermodynamics knowledge
  • PFDs and P&IDs
  • Hardware knowledge: tanks, pumps, regulators, safety valves, instrumentation
